Wolcott, renamed for a tie-breaking lieutenant governor
Wolcott was settled in the 1730s as the borderland community of Farmingbury before its 1796 incorporation, renamed for Lieutenant Governor Oliver Wolcott, who cast the tie-breaking vote in its favor, and later home to clockmaker Seth Thomas. A plumbing project in one of Wolcott's 18th-century Farmingbury-era homes should expect systems predating the town's 1796 renaming.
